Alberto Falchetti, M.D, I have two medical specializations, one in endocrinology and the other in medical genetics. I had the opportunity to form myself, both as a researcher-clinician, and as a man at two prestigious US institutions: NIH at Bethesda, MD and Yale University at New Haven, CT. Acquisition of experience not only in technological fields but also into the ability to translate molecular research into clinical results applicable to the matter.
The time spent at the NIH (Bethesda, Maryland, USA) and then at Yale University (New Haven, Connecticut, USA) represented a key moment of technological growth and acquisitions experience in molecular genetics that have contributed much to the later development point of genetic diagnostic methods in the laboratory. This activity has certainly been a pioneer role, regarding the development of innovative new technologies at national Italian level.
At the same time, there was an opportunity to build a personality in the field of clinical endocrinology disorders of mineral metabolism, in particular in clinical and genetics of Paget's disease of bone and hereditary endocrine tumors. The years devoted to the specialty of Medical Genetics have been training for me to reach a full maturity in the management of patients with endocrine and metabolic bone disorders.Institutions EndOsMet, Villa Donatello, Private Hospital, Firenze, Italy until present Affiliations Istituto Auxologico Italiano, IRCCS, Unit for Bone Metabolism Diseases and Diabetes & Lab of Endocrine and Metabolic Research;2Dept. of Clinical Sciences & Community Health, University of Milan, Milan, Italy

DIABETES:
My special interests in diabetes are
Difficult to manage Type 1 diabetes, including the use of technology like Diasend and flash glucose monitoring as well as Dexcon CGM. I believe the future of Type1 diabetes is in emerging technologies. In Type 2, I deal with metabolic syndrome, diabesity, and the use of new agents in T2DM.
Iam well versed in the care of insulin pumps. I am also trained to deal with diabetes in pregnancy.
My transition clinics enable me to work with young patients, who are especially keen to use technology for the control of diabetes,
I have a large cohort of T2DM patients who we manage both in face-to-face and virtual clinics.
Iam was also interested in developing technologies like remote monitoring to help patients control their diabetes.
OBESITY:
T2DM is closely linked with Obesity. I deal with pre and post-op care of Obesity patients for the last 10 years as a consultant. The Obesity services are well developed in my current job with both medical and surgical pathways. I have helped edit one of the major Obesity books in 2015.

Sriram Seshadri, Academic Coordinator, Institute of Science, Nirma University, Gujarat. My research area of interest includes understanding the role of gut microbiota in diabetes and liver inflammation. My group has successfully developed an animal model for diet-induced diabetes and has established that gut dysbiosis is one of the major causes of the induction and progression of insulin resistance resulting in type 2 diabetes and even obesity. Currently, we are working on the modulation of gut dysbiosis using two strategies. First being the targeted drug delivery using pH specific polymers and secondly targeting the FFAR and GPR receptors in the colon for the treatment of metabolic disorder and liver inflammation.

Lecturer in Clinical Genetics
An enthusiastic, talented, and communicative Biomedical scientist with 18 years of research and teaching experience in higher education institutes. My research interests are in the area of biomarker discovery for the early diagnosis and effective treatment of metabolic diseases. I work on understanding the genetic and epigenetic factors involved in metabolic diseases such as obesity and its associated complications. In my postdoctoral work, I was part of a team to create a database on methylation quantitative loci and identified an epigenetic marker in the early diagnosis of thoracic aortic aneurysms. As an independent researcher, I am directing a research project to identify the biomarkers differentially regulated in obese patients responding to weight loss treatments. Currently I supervise two PhD students and one MRes student (master’s in research). I have successfully completed co supervising one PhD student. In my research career I achieved 16 international publications and contributed towards one PhD thesis.
