Biography:
Dr. Manuel Ángel Gómez-Ríos earned his Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Santiago de Compostela. He is a Consultant Anesthesiologist of Spain, author of several publications indexed on PubMed, a member of the Editorial Board, and peer-reviewer of several international journals. His research experience covers 15 years in tertiary care centers.
His 50 peer-reviewed international publications covered many areas in clinical research. He is Head of the research group "Anesthesiology and pain management" of the Institute for Biomedical Research of La Coruña (INIBIC) His main research interests focus on clinical trials, clinical monitoring, difficult airway, postoperative acute pain, perioperative medicine, neuropathic pain, pediatric anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, anesthesia for the high-risk patient and anesthesia and uncommon disease. Steven Boggs, MD, MBA is an anesthesiologist at Regional One Health and the vice-chair and professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Boggs received his medical degree from Pritzker School of Medicine at The University of Chicago where he also completed his internal medicine internship.
He completed his anesthesiology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and earned his MBA from The University of Phoenix in Tempe, Arizona. “People often state that they want to go into medicine to help people and this is an insufficient reason,” Dr. Boggs said. “There are multiple helping professions one can enter, but what is unique about medicine is that a doctor can apply scientific principles to the care of patients.
Physicians must never allow themselves to become technicians, forgetting that patients are looking for compassion and humanity.” Dr. Boggs said he believes physicians always should strive to make the patient and family experience as positive as possible, considering the situation. “The goal should be to get the patient in the hospital or clinic quickly, treated optimally and then out of the facility swiftly and happily,” Dr. Boggs said. “People come to us to recover their health, not to spend time with us.” Dr. Boggs is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Association of Anesthesia Clinical Directors, and the International Anesthesia Research Society. His work has been published in numerous journals and books and featured in presentations and exhibits.
Dr. Boggs has experience in all types of anesthesia such as high-risk obstetrics, cardiovascular, thoracic, trauma and orthopedic, outpatient, and non-operating room anesthesia (NORA). First, I started one year of training post-graduation (House officer) at Mansoura University Hospitals (2003-2004). Dr. Maria Kapritsou, RN, Ph.D. is Chief Nurse of P.A.C.U. in Hellenic- Anticancer Institute “Saint Savvas” Hospital, Day Care Clinic “N. Kourkoulos”, Athens, Greece. Also, she has participated in the adult education program as Instructor of Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation of Municipality Athens, Greece. She holds a BSc in Nursing, Master of Science in Surgical Nursing and she is a Candidate in Master of Health Nursing Management. She has a Ph.D. in Oncology Surgical Nursing which was obtained from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. Also, she is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Perianaesthesia Nursing at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She has experience in research methodology (quantitative and laboratory assays) and she has a strong interest in clinical nursing practice and research focused on pain, stress, and neuropeptides’ levels issues, mainly concerning oncology and surgical patients (adults).
She has participated in research projects, such as “Study of the effectiveness of Fast-track protocol in postoperative care in patients after hepatectomy or pancreatectomy”.
