Biography:

Jong In Kim, Ph.D., is a chairman at Institute for Longevity Sciences and a professor in the Division of Social Welfare & Public Health Administration at Wonkwang University. He holds a Ph.D. at Seoul National University, South Korea. He is President of the Korean Society of Health and Welfare in 2015. He has been elected Dean of the College of Social Science and has been a Dean of the Graduate School of Health at Wonkwang University.

He has been also Chairman of the Korea Society of Dean Graduate School of Public Health. He has been a consulting member of The Presidential Commission on Policy Planning. He has extensive research experience as a Visiting professor at Harvard University, University of Auckland, University of Tokyo and Australian National University. He has been also Editor In Chief in Journal of Human Health Research, and Ageing Science & Mental Health Studies.

He has life membership of Indian Public Health Association (IPHA- L/2014/MAH/6895), Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM- L-2064), Community Medicine Faculties Association (COMFA- LM/MAH /2013/11), Association for Prevention and Control of Rabies in India (APCRI- LM-648) & Epidemiology Foundation of India (EFI- L-00303). He is Elected Vice-President of IPHA and Executive Committee Member of IAPSM of Maharashtra State for the year 2018-21 and also Elected Executive Committee Member (West Zone) of National IAPSM for the year 2017-18 & 2018-19.

He was elected as General Secretary of IAPSM Maharashtra State for the year 2015-18. He was a Member of the International Epidemiological Association (IEA) for the year 2017-18. He is an Undergraduate and Postgraduate Examiner in more than 22 Medical Universities in the various states of India. He has more than 175 scientific research paper publications to his credit in various indexed National and International medical journals since July 2009. He has Awarded Med world Asia International Excellence Award (MAIER)-2018 as a “Nobel Medical Researcher of the Year 2018” in the Recognition with Outstanding work and Contribution in the field of Research and Teaching in Community Medicine on 28th October 2018 at Aurora Towers, Pune. He has Awarded RULA International Award- 2018 as a “Nobel Medical Researcher Award’18” in the Recognition with Outstanding Contribution in the field of Research and Co-curriculum on 15th August 2018 at Breeze Residency, Trichy, Tamilnadu.

He has Awarded Med world Asia International Excellence Award (MAIER)-2020 as a “Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Research Award in Excellency in the field of Research in Community Medicine” on 02nd Feb. 2020 at Hotel Novotel, Pune. As a Guest of Honour – at 45th National IAPSM and 19th Maharashtra State Joint Conference of IAPSM and IPHA - 2018 held at St. Kashibai Navale Medical College, Pune on 09th -11th March 2018. Dr. Sumal Nandasena is a Specialist in Community Medicine at Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka. He holds Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from University of Kelaniya, Master of Science (MSc) in Community Medicine from University of Colombo, Doctor of Medicine in Community Medicine (MD) from University of Colombo and Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Sociology from University of Colombo. Dr. Nandasena has over 15 years of public health experience. He worked in resource limited war affected remote areas as well as policy making central level public health institutions in Sri Lanka. He is the first Sri Lankan scientist to receive a grant from Global Research Initiative Program for New Foreign Investigators (GRIP) at National Institutes of Health, USA to conduct a study on indoor air pollution and respiratory health outcomes.

Dr. Nandasena is a trainer in public health and community medicine for undergraduate and postgraduate training programs conduct by the Ministry of Health and the Faculties of Medicine in Sri Lanka. He is an author of over 25 peer reviewed publications in reputed international scientific journals, and over 80 national and international research presentations. He has undertaken consultancies for World Bank, WHO, UNEP and many other international non-governmental organizations. He has extensive experience in programme evaluation, public health research with special focus on respiratory disease, nutrition and air pollution. He is a recipient of several awards for his exceptional achievements and contribution to research including the Ten Outstanding Young Person (TOYP) of Sri Lanka Award for medical innovations and research.

Carlos Bouza explained that given the high level reached in Cuba and the Mathematics, the specialist of this science should play a more important role in respect to the cooperation with Latin America. “When professors carry out their work in the local universities, it is observed their high-level training and knowledge; therefore, it would be great their work in the research, postgraduate teaching, specialization in Mathematics for professionals from other fields. Steven Boggs, MD, MBA is an anesthesiologist at Regional One Health and the vice-chair and professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Boggs received his medical degree from Pritzker School of Medicine at The University of Chicago where he also completed his internal medicine internship.

He completed his anesthesiology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and earned his MBA from The University of Phoenix in Tempe, Arizona. “People often state that they want to go into medicine to help people and this is an insufficient reason,” Dr. Boggs said. “There are multiple helping professions one can enter, but what is unique about medicine is that a doctor can apply scientific principles to the care of patients.

Dr. Sarsak has worked in the USA, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan for over 15 years in a variety of clinical, academic, and research institutions. Throughout his career, he has provided services for individuals from different populations (i.e., Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics) with different diagnoses (i.e., Psychiatric Disorders, Neuro-physical Dysfunctions, Cognitive Disabilities, Learning Difficulties, etc.).

In 2017, in response to the need of more wheelchair professionals and to enhance the quality of service delivery to wheelchair users, Dr. Sarsak developed the Wheelchair Training Program (WTP) for Rehabilitation and OT Students and integrated it into Rehabilitation Curricula/Programs in both Jordan and Saudi Arabia. In 2018, Dr. Sarsak received a trainer recognition certificate from the International Society of Wheelchair Professionals (ISWP) and he has been a certified wheelchair service provider ever since. In 2018, Dr. Sarsak developed an OT Program at Batterjee Medical College in Saudi Arabia and is currently the Head of the Program.

Bojan Bjelica was born on September 14, 1987 in Sarajevo, Centar Municipality. Due to unwanted hostilities and the difficult situation, he moved to Serbia in 1992, and in April 1994 he returned to the borders of Republika Srpska - Pale. He enrolled in primary school in 1994 in Pale, Pale municipality. He continued his education in 2002, enrolling in the High School of Civil Engineering, also in Pale. After completing primary and secondary education, Bojan decides to continue his education at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports. As a student of the Physical Education program, on January 21, 2011, he graduated with the highest grade and acquired the title of professor of Physical Culture. The great effort and effort he invested during his studies brought him the recognition of a student of the generation, which was a new stimulus for him to continue his studies. In the period 01.06.2012. years until 01.06.2013. engaged in volunteer work in the Administrative Service of the City of East Sarajevo. The following year, he enrolled in master's studies. July 9. In 2013, he acquired the title of Master of Physical Culture on the topic: "Correction of impaired posture of younger school-age students by individual exercise of aerobic gymnastics content." Along with his studies, he wrote several significant research papers. He expands his further ambitions in the field of informatics, as well as knowledge of foreign languages. In addition to his mother tongue, he is fluent in English. In addition to his great devotion to sports, especially skiing, his work continues in the ski school "VIP" Jahorina. During the time spent in this sport, within the ski federation of RS / BiH, passes the exam for possession of a ski license and thus becomes an active member of the Association of Ski Coaches and Teachers. Since April 2014, he has been working at the Faculty of Physical Education, University of East Sarajevo as an assistant in the subject of Sports Recreation. In October 2014, he enrolled in Doctoral Academic Studies in Nis, Republic of Serbia. Doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Effects of group fitness programs on women's health fitness". In May 2017, he started working at the Faculty of Economics in Palam and works as an assistant in the following subjects: Economics of Sports, Economics of Sports and Entertainment. In March 2018, he received the title of senior assistant at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports at UIS. In September, he acquired the title of Doctor of Science - Physical Education and Sports at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Nis.

• Investigated the association between receiving a survivorship care plan (SCP) and mortality in childhood cancer survivors, the study design is a retrospective cohort study. The study will evaluate childhood cancer survivors diagnosed and treated at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta before the age of 20 from 2002 to 2016.

• Conducted a retrospective chart review of close to 2000 patients by analyzing data in Epic and translating it into Redcap.

Biography:

Arunkumar Venkatesan 1st degree connection1st Postdoctoral Associate at SUNY UPSTATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, USA. I am a postdoctoral researcher, working on the cell biological aspects of Exfoliation glaucoma. My research interests are directed towards studying different protein folding diseases.

Professional experience:

Postdoctoral Research: SUNY Upstate Medical University, Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, Feb 2021 - present (research advisor: Dr. Audrey Bernstein).

In Bernstein’s lab, currently, I’m studying the role of LOXL1 protein and its aggregation phenotypes in exfoliation glaucoma, an age-dependent exfoliation syndrome that is characterized by the formation of aggregated protein deposits in ocular tissues.

Postdoctoral Research: the University of Michigan, Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Jan 2017 - Jan 2021 (research advisor: Dr. Malini Raghavan).

In Raghavan’s lab, I got an opportunity to study the ER chaperone calreticulin and the role of frameshift calreticulin mutants in myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) disease. We identified that the MPN calreticulin mutants are oligomeric/aggregated when expressed in E. coli, mammalian cells as well as inpatient platelets. We also identified that these aggregates are made up of both covalent and non-covalent interactions that involve globular domain as well as novel C-domain. In addition, the mutant calreticulin interacts with the thrombopoietin receptor, Mpl to drive the oncogenic pathways and degrade via Autophagy. The calreticulin mutants also showed altered localization as they localize to the cell surface as puncta via Golgi apparatus and also detectable in the patient serum. In addition, the mutants also showed decreased chaperone activity and loss of low affinity Ca2+ binding. 

Doctoral Research: National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis & University of Madras, Department of Immunology, 2012-2017 (research advisor: Dr. Sujatha Narayanan).

In my Ph.D research, I have worked on identifying and characterizing several protein-DNA and protein-protein interactions in Mycobacteria. In the first part of thesis, I studied the Acetamidase operon, which is a highly inducible operon in M. smegmatis. We identified the molecular mechanism behind the negative and positive regulation of the operon. AmiA negatively regulates the operon by binding to a direct repeat sequence in the P2 promoter. AmiC positively regulates the operon by removing AmiA from the P2 promoter and further binding to the multiple regulatory regions of the operon. In the second part of the thesis, I studied the protein kinase PknI to interact with a peroxidase protein Rv2159c via Ala-Gly-Trp motif to increase its peroxidase activity during oxidative stress. In addition, I also identified and characterized the universally conserved SRP pathway proteins and their substrates in M. tuberculosis.

Biography:

Mr.jibin kunjavara carries more than 10 years of experience in the field of nursing. His expertise lies in both the clinical and academic fields. He has held positions such as clinical instructor, senior lecturer, and Assistant Professor at a health science university in India. He holds a master's degree in Pediatric Nursing and Health care services. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Nursing sciences. He has organized, coordinated, and guided several research projects for clinical Nurses and Nursing Students. He is enthusiastic about conducting research in Pediatric health, adolescent health, Nursing education, and management.
