DIABETES:

My special interests in diabetes are

Difficult to manage Type 1 diabetes, including the use of technology like Diasend and flash glucose monitoring as well as Dexcon CGM. I believe the future of Type1 diabetes is in emerging technologies. In Type 2, I deal with metabolic syndrome, diabesity, and the use of new agents in T2DM.

Iam well versed in the care of insulin pumps. I am also trained to deal with diabetes in pregnancy.

My transition clinics enable me to work with young patients, who are especially keen to use technology for the control of diabetes,

I have a large cohort of T2DM patients who we manage both in face-to-face and virtual clinics.

Iam was also interested in developing technologies like remote monitoring to help patients control their diabetes.

OBESITY:

T2DM is closely linked with Obesity. I deal with pre and post-op care of Obesity patients for the last 10 years as a consultant. The Obesity services are well developed in my current job with both medical and surgical pathways. I have helped edit one of the major Obesity books in 2015. I have developed a unique pathway flow sheet for patients

She was graduated from the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. She did her specialization in Zeynep Kamil Gynecology and Child Diseases Training and Research Hospital (1997). She also served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology, and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale University School of Medicine, Connecticut, USA. Hoda Atwa is a professor of Pediatrics and head of the endocrinology unit at the faculty of Medicine Suez Canal, Egypt. Hoda's research interests include diabetes, obesity, and child health. The prime focus of her work has been in type 1 diabetes and related metabolic and vascular complications. She is the Principal Investigator of STDF- a funded project about genetics and environmental factors in children with T1D. She is an editor and peer reviewer member in some medical journals. She has served on the National Diabetes Advisory Board and on the National Board of DKA management guidelines. She is the founder of Pediatrics and adolescent diabetes center of excellence. Yinu Wang, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Daniela Matei’s laboratory in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University. Yinu received her BS degree in Pharmacy from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University in 2006, an MS in Biology from Western Kentucky University in 2011 and a PhD in Pharmacology in 2017 from Indiana University.

As a graduate student working with Dr. Ken Nephew, she studied the mechanisms contributing to the emergence of chemoresistant recurrent tumors and focused on the functions of cancer stem cells (CSCs) driving tumor relapse. This work defined key signaling pathways contributing to the maintenance of ovarian CSCs. She also laid the groundwork for investigating epigenetic targeting of ovarian CSCs, by using DNMT methytransferase inhibitors.

At Northwestern University, her research focuses on defining epigenetic signatures and the 3D chromatin nanoarchitecture of ovarian CSCs. She will link the physical properties of chromatin in ovarian CSCs with epigenetic mechanisms regulating gene transcription, to discover specific vulnerabilities of OCSCs. The ultimate goal is to target and eradicate CSCs, prevent tumor relapse, and improve survival rates of women with ovarian cancer.
