Science as an enterprise builds and organizes knowledge in the form of a testable explanations and predictions about the whole universe. Science is the human attempt to discover truth about the world. Science contributes to other branches like mathematics, medicine, and astronomy which entered and shaped Greek natural philosophy of classical antiquity, whereby formal attempts were made to provide explanations of events in the physical world based on natural causes.
Modern science has been divided into three major branches that consists of the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, and physics), which studies nature in the broadest sense; the social sciences (economics, psychology, and sociology), which studies individuals and societies; and the formal sciences (mathematics, and theoretical computer science).
Technology is the set of techniques, methods, skills and processes used in the accomplishment of objectives such as scientific investigation or in the production of goods or services. Technology is the knowledge of techniques, processes. Technology can be embedded in machines to permit the operation without detailed knowledge of their workings. Machines or Systems with the help of technology can change the input taken, according to system use and produce outcome which is referred as technology systems. Development and use of basic tools are the simplest forms of technology.
Technology has many uses. Technology helps the nations to be more advanced. But the processes enabled by technology produces unwanted by-products which also creates pollution and also depletes the natural resources. Innovations influences the value of a society and also raises questions regarding the ethics of technology.
Engineering is the branch of technology and science is concerned with the building, design, and use of structures, engines, and machines. It is the application of math and science to solve problems. Engineers find out the practical uses of scientific discoveries and figures how things work. Scientists and inventors always get the credit for innovations that helps in the advancement of the human condition, but it is engineers who make the innovations available to the world.
Mechanical engineering involves design, manufacturing, inspection and maintenance of machinery, equipment and components as well as control systems and instruments for monitoring their status and performance. Environmental engineering is the practice of preventing, reducing and eliminating sources of pollution that affect air, water and land. It also involves detecting and measuring pollution levels, determining sources of pollution, cleaning up and rehabilitating polluted sites and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
Mathematics is an abstract science of space, numbers, and quantity applied as abstract concepts or as applied to other disciplines such as engineering and physics. The history of mathematics can be seen as an ever-increasing series of abstractions. The first abstraction is number of animals, the second abstraction is collection of two apples and collection of two oranges. All these have something in common which is quantity.
The fields of mathematical logic and set theory were developed in order to clarify the foundations of mathematics. Mathematical logic includes the mathematical study of logic and the applications of formal logic to other areas of mathematics; set theory is the branch of mathematics that studies sets or collections of objects. Category theory, which deals in an abstract way with mathematical structures and relationships between them, is still in development.
